Benefits of Dental Bridges

Dental bridges present a comprehensive solution for individuals grappling with the challenges of missing teeth. Beyond the evident aesthetic benefits, bridges play a crucial role in restoring functionality, facilitating proper chewing, and enhancing speech clarity.

By preventing the shifting of neighbouring teeth, they contribute to the overall stability of the dental arch. Bridges also aid in maintaining facial structure and evenly distributing bite force, preventing issues associated with tooth loss.

The fixed nature of dental bridges ensures both comfort and convenience, eliminating the need for removal or adhesives.

Notably, the efficiency of the procedure, combined with the long-term durability of bridges with proper care, makes them a practical and reliable choice for those seeking a fully restored and confident smile.

Types of Dental Bridges

Dental bridges come in various types, each tailored to specific dental needs. Traditional bridges, a widely used type, entail crafting crowns for teeth or implants on both sides of the missing tooth, with a false tooth (pontic) in between.

Cantilever bridges, alternatively, are employed when adjacent teeth exist on only one side of the gap. Maryland bridges utilise a framework of metal or porcelain wings on adjacent teeth, eliminating the need for crowns.

Implant-supported bridges anchor to dental implants, offering stability without involving neighbouring natural teeth. Hybrid bridges combine the benefits of implants and bridges for a secure, permanent solution.

Removable bridges, also known as partial dentures, can be taken out for cleaning and feature a framework supporting artificial teeth.

The choice of bridge type depends on factors such as tooth location, adjacent tooth health, and individual dental conditions. A thorough examination and consultation with a dentist guide the selection of the most suitable bridge type for individual needs.

We've had all of our dentistry done by the friendly and professional team at Diamond smile for over 15 years now. We can recommend them highly and without reservation. The dentists and hygienists do amazing work. Prices have gone up steeply for the hygienist unfortunately...

A great team who put me completely at ease. I thought it would be hard to register with an NHS dentist. Couldn't be easier. No judgement, just excellent care. I moved too far to stay with my former practice. Things have moved on in the meantime, like gel to numb your gums for cleaning. Genius. If you are a bit nervous of dentists, I really recommend you try them.

I recently had my composite bonding veneers with D Akshay Shah, for my front 4 teeth. I met Dr Shah last year when I worked with him as a nurse from agency. In the meantime, I moved from the area, worked with lots of dentists ( so I can compare the way they work, the quality etc) and preferred to travel and come back to Dr Shah, because I think he’s the most perfectionist of all dentists I met. I’m very happy with the results, and grateful that they accommodated me few weeks before my wedding. I highly recommend them!!! Thank you so much!!!
